We come in after the source of the water has been rectified. We will repair walls and ceilings damaged by moisture (or mold remediation) and then repaint the affected wall or ceiling in its entirety (Yes, sometimes insurance companies only want to paint the patches.). This ensures when we leave, our clients can get back to their life as it was prior to this unfortunate event.

The most common sign of a leak is an ugly brown stain, caused by water disturbing the surface dust on the bottom of the ceiling and the dirt thats on the backside of the drywall inside the ceiling. If the leak is not rectified, what follows is a loss of structural integrity of the sheetrock, causing the drywall to sag, often not obvious from the floor.

To assess the damage, shine a flashlight (not your phone!) across the surface toward the affected area. If it’s sagging, you’ll see it—no second-guessing. If you haven’t already, poke a hole to let the water out!

We often use high-powered work lights to bid repairs, this creates critical light which highlights any deformities in the ceiling, such as sagging drywall. Most ceilings are not flat.

Insulation above ceilings can absorb water like a sponge, especially blown-in insuraltion, acting as a heat sink instead of an insulator.

If you decide to remove the wet drywall yourself, make sure you cover everything in the room with plastic, remove expensive items, and wear a dust mask and gloves. Also, depending on the time of year, this will create a chimney effect and suck all the heat out of your house unless you have a plan on sealing up the hole after opening the ceiling. Just "winging it" is not usually wife approved.
